It was incredibly difficult to select films that made it to the finals out of
386 entries. The films were rated for hundreds of hours, our preliminary jury
team made their decisions and we determined the finalist films at the Izmit
International Short Film Festival.

CHAIRMAN OF THE JURY
Roger Worrod | Switzerland
Graduated from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (London). As an actor, was
‘Bruder’ in Ken Russell’s award-winning masterpiece: “Song of Summer”; as a
director-writer-narrator, made 4 documentaries about Malta. As a dubber,
provided voices for Gian-Maria Volontè, Bud Spencer and Fabio Testi among many
others; as a writer-narrator has worked on nearly 3,000 audio-visual productions.
THE JURY
Ovidiu Dumitrana | Romania
He gained remarkable experience and results in the field of audio-video
productions in TV Oltenia (documentary, artistic, presentation films). He
produced over 70 films on local and national TV channels and was awarded over 20
national and international prizes. Presently he is a film producer and a PR and
mass-media expert for EU funded projects. Several years worked for the Romanian
government as a PR and mass media expert.
THE JURY
Elena Romanato | Italy
Graduated Faculty of Public Relations and Faculty of Political Science in Milan,
is a freelancer journalist. She’s been working at Millecanali Magazine - monthly
magazine about radio, tvs and broadcast - since 1996. She was editor in chief of
Computer Arts - Future Media Italy, wrote for the magazine Eurosat; currently
she works for the newspaper La Stampa and Millecanali.
THE JURY
Akın Ülkü Sevinç | Turkey
He has been organizing and managing local, national and international culture,
art, history projects and events in different disciplines since 2009. He has
been managing the Art Nicomedia Culture and Art Association (AND) which has 71
members and 14 honorary members he founded in 2011. He was the producer and
project director of 11 fiction films, 3 city promotional film, 1 documentary
film and 2 video clip project. Since 2013, he has been organizing “Art Nicomedia
National Short Film Festival” and “Art Nicomedia National Photography Contest”
events. He is the founder and president of "The Izmit International Short Film
Festival" which was launched in 2018.
THE JURY
Haluk Arda Oskay | Turkey
Born in 1981, Ankara. He received her BA from the Department of Photography at
Kocaeli University, Faculty of Fine Arts. He received his MA degree from Kocaeli
University, Institute of Social Sciences, Public Relations and Publicity
Department. Proficiency in Art: Kocaeli University Institute of Social Sciences
Plastic Arts. Kocaeli University Faculty of Fine Arts Lecturer. He continues
academic studies by joining many national and international art events under her
full title of member.
THE JURY
Korhan Günay | Turkey
He was born in Istanbul in 1973. He graduated from Mimar Sinan University Cinema
TV department. (1997-2002) He completed his master's degree in Marmara
University Cinema TV Department (2003-2005). Since 2008, he has carried out many
projects as a film director, script writer and general coordinator.

Darko Kovič |Serbia
Graduated from Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade Profesional experience: Film
& TV Production KRUG- Technical Director; City Council of Niš - Media promotions
designer; Radio Television Serbia and Television of Niš - cameraman and picture
designer, author of many distinctive short and documentary films, TV serials,
media campaigns, promotional films and music spots.

Elif Edes Tapan | Turkey
After finishing Notre Dame de Sion French high school, she completed her
education in Fine Arts / Photography Department in Washington D.C.and Florence.
She completed her gastronomy education from 1989 to 1990 in Paris Cordon Bleu.
Sho is currently teaching at Okan University Faculty of Applied Sciences,
Department of Gastronomy. She is jury member at several international film
festivals.
THE JURY
Engin Benli | Turkey
After completing his primary education in Izmir, he completed his undergraduate
education at Anadolu University State Conservatory in Eskişehir in 1995. He
started his professional theater career as an actor at the Ankara State Theater.
Then he worked as an intern artist at the Bursa State Theater between 1995-1997.
He has been acting as an actor in Izmit City Theater since 1997, the year it was
founded. In addition to acting in theater, he plays a role in various movies and
television series.

Iulia Puica, Moldova
In 2012 graduated from the Academy of Music Theater and Fine Arts, in Moldova.
Specialty film director and editor and master degree as director of animation.
She has been working as a director and 1st AD since 2013. Iulia has great
experience working with international teams from Germany, Portugal, Japan,
Romania, Moldova. She has been awarded in a few national and international film
festivals. Since 2018 she has been working as a director in Japan.

Hüseyin Urçuk, Turkey
Huseyin Urcuk, was born in Akhisar, district of Manisa, in 1983. He started to
deal with theater art actively since 1998. After graduating from the departmant
of “Photography and Videography” at Anadolu University between 2012-2014, he
started to work on “Photography and Cinema” in Kybele Art House. In 2016, he was
deemed worthy of the award by taking part in many festivals at home and abroad
with his experimental short film project named “ENTROPY". He won many awards in
festivals with his short film screenplay named “BARCODE".

Anthony Merchak, Lebanon
Born In Beirut , Experienced as Segment Director & Sound Operator @ MTV Lebanon
For more than 10 years, with a demonstrated history of working in the motion
pictures and film industry. Skilled in Photography, Music Videos, Camera, Sound,
editing and Film. Strong product management professional with a Master's degree
focused in Cinematography and Film/Video Production from the Lebanese University
of fine arts. Awarded over than 14 international prizes For My Senior Short
Film. Gained remarkable experience and results in the field of audio-video
productions.
PRE-SELECTION JURY
Gazanfer Biricik, France
He was born in Saint-Dié-Des-Vosges in France on April 15th, 1977. He writes
stories, scenarios & poems since 1990. It is however with the short film "GAB"
produced in 2018 that Gazanfer manages to seduce the international festivals,
and wins 59 awards in total for 138 selections till end of 2019. On the strength
of this success the festivals ask him also the short "The Tombeur / The
Heartthrob" he directed in 2015 & that even never pay their attention. The
latter won 23 awards for 43 selections from July to the end of 2019. Currently
he is working on several projects of feature film and TV series (show), drama
and science fiction in collaboration with La Vie Parigo.
PRE-SELECTION JURY
Meral Özdemir, Turkey
She was born in Gaziantep. She graduated from The University of Harran, the
academy of Radio and Broadcast in 2006. She won the university of Istanbul
Kültür, Art and Design Faculty, the design of Communication and cinema
Department with a full scholarship in 2009. She is currently a master's degree
student at University of Akdeniz, Fine Arts Institute, Academy of Art and design.

Ayça Seymenoğlu, Turkey
She graduated from Sabiha Gökçen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School
Radio-Television / Graphic-Animation department in 2014. In the same year, he
had 1-year internship at M.A.R.K.A Advertising Agency. In 2018, she graduated
from Yalova University, Faculty of Art and Design / Communication Arts
department with first degree. Ayça Seymenoğlu, who has worked at Maltepe
University, has directed several short films and has won many national and
international awards.
PRE-SELECTION JURY
Onur Doğan, Turkey
He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Communication, Department of
Radio, TV and Cinema. He has worked as director and director in many productions
until today. He wrote and directed C.O.D. (2017) and The Rejected (2019). His
work continues by shooting short films and music videos.
PRE-SELECTION JURY
Erfan Parsapour, Iran
Erfan is a film, animation, and theater writer and director. His paintings and
caricatures were his first encounters with the art world which won him great
attention as a child. His career as a director has been fruitful, especially in
THE INCOMPLETE which brought him several international awards. He is the founder
of CUBECAT animation studio.
PRE-SELECTION JURY
Alp Özkardeş, Turkey
Alp Özkardeş; is a visual communication designer and independent short film
director. He is a graduate of Doğuş University, Visual Communication Design
department. He is currently continuing his graduate education and academic
studies at Istanbul University, Department of Radio Television Cinema. Some of
the short films he directed were shown at national and international festivals
