İngiltere'de 2. Londra Türk Filmleri Haftası

Türk sinemasının öne çıkan eserleri 2. Türk Filmleri Haftası kapsamında Londra'da izleyiciyle buluşuyor - Londra Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Müdürü Mehmet Karakuş: - "Türk filmleri haftasını bundan sonra da geleneksel olarak yapmaya devam edeceğiz. Türk sinemasının önde gelen eserleri 2. Türk Filmleri Haftası kapsamında İngiltere'nin başkenti Londra'da izleyiciyle buluşuyor.

Londra Yunus Emre Enstitüsünün, SOAS Üniversitesi ile düzenlediği 2. Londra Türk Filmleri Haftası kapsamında uzun metrajlı film, belgesel gösterimleri ve paneller yapılacak.

AA muhabirine değerlendirmelerde bulunan Londra Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Müdürü Mehmet Karakuş, ilki geçen aralıkta yapılan film haftasının gördüğü yoğun ilgi üzerine ikincisini de yapmaya karar verdiklerini söyledi.

Türk Filmleri Haftası'nın geleneksel olarak yapılmaya devam edeceğini belirten Karakuş, "Burada ciddi bir boşluk var. Türk filmlerinin İngiltere'de yeteri kadar tanıtılmadığını görüyoruz. Birkaç yıldır Türk filmleri Londra'da gereken ilgiyi göremiyor, temsil edilemiyor." dedi.

Etkinlik kapsamında sadece uzun metraj filmlerin değil, belgesel, kısa film gösterimleri ile panel ve söyleşilerin yapılacağını anlatan Karakuş, düzenlenecek panelde Türk dizilerinin dünyada yakaladığı başarının da masaya yatırılacağını söyledi.

Londra'nın önde gelen üniversitelerinden SOAS ile Kings College'ın film haftasına salonlarını açarak destek verdiğini anlatan Karakuş, uzun metraj film gösterimlerinde de kentin en eski sinemalarından Regent Street Sineması'nın kullanılacağını dile getirdi.

Karakuş film haftasının Türk sinemasını İngiliz yapımcılar ve dağıtıcılarla buluşturmayı amaçladığını sözlerine ekledi.

- Dizilerin başarısı

Film haftası kapsamında Türk dizilerinin ele alındığı panelde konuşan oyuncu Perihan Savaş, "Her eve girebilmesi ve herkesin izleyebilmesi açısından diziler önemli." dedi.

Türk dizilerinin yurt dışında büyük ses getirmeye başladığını belirten Savaş, "Doğru şeyler yaptığınız doğru yerlere temas ettiğiniz zaman insanlar kendilerini bulup izliyorlar." diye konuştu.

- "Anlatacak çok hikayemiz var"

Oyuncu Emre Kızılırmak da Londra Film Haftası vesilesiyle İngiltere'deki izleyicilerle buluşmaktan duyduğu memnuniyeti dile getirdi.

Her ülkenin filmleri ve dizilerinde kendi kültürünü yansıttığını ifade eden Kızılırmak, Türkiye'nin bu alanda dünya çapında ilerleme kaydetmeye başladığına dikkati çekti.

"Anlatacak gerçekten çok hikayemiz var." diyen Kızılırmak, "Oyunculara, yapımcılara, enstitülere, devletimize ve fon sağlayıcılara çok iş düşüyor. Bunlar kolektif bir şekilde çalışmalı." görüşünü paylaştı.

Kızılırmak, Türkiye'nin film ve dizi alanında kendi anlatım dilini geliştirmeye başladığını vurgulayarak, "Kendi tarzımızı ortaya koymaya başlıyoruz. Gittikçe bütün dünyanın duyacağı ve bütün dünyayı ilgilendiren projelere imza atacağımızı düşünüyorum." dedi.

Sinema yazarı Kerem Akça, Londra Film Haftası'nın sürdürülmesi gereken bir etkinlik olduğunu belirterek, son bir yılda adından söz ettiren Türk filmlerinin hafta kapsamında izleyiciyle buluşacağını anımsattı.

- Yılmaz Güney filmiyle sona erecek

SOAS Üniversitesinde dün akşam Osmanlı İmparatorluğu döneminden başlayarak Türk sinemasının öyküsünü anlatan "Bırakın Çocuk Oynasın" adlı belgeselle açılışı yapılan Türk Filmleri Haftası 30 Nisan'a kadar devam edecek.

Londra Türk Fimleri Haftası kapsamında yönetmenler Serdar Akar'ın "Çiçero", Ömür Atay'ın "Kardeşler", Fikret Reyhan'ın "Sarı Sıcak", Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun'un "Yozgat Blues", Murat Düzgünoğlu'nun "Halef", Banu Sıvacı'nın "Güvercin", Özgür Sevimli'nin "Murtaza", Tayfun Pirselimoğlu'nun "Yol Kenarı", Can Ulkay'ın "Türk İşi Dondurma" ve Ahmet Botacıoğlu'nun "Paranın Kokusu" fimleri gösterilecek.

İki belgesel ile kısa filmlerin gösteriminin yapılacağı film haftasında çeşitli paneller de düzenlenecek. Etkinlik, yönetmen Ömer Lütfi Akad'ın çektiği Yılmaz Güney'in başrolünü oynadığı "Hudutların Kanunu" filminin gösterimi ile sona erecek.

Londra Türk Filmleri Haftası'nın ilki geçen yıl 12-16 Aralık tarihlerinde gerçekleştirilmişti.

London Turkish Film Week

London Turkish Film Week is back for its 2nd iteration with over a dozen of new features, shorts and documentaries between the 24th and 30th of April. It also features talks and Q&As with Directors and Academics as they discuss Turkish Film: its place in the filming world and history.

We first go to SOAS and Yunus Emre Enstitüsü - London for documentaries, Let the Kid Play and Guardian of Angels as well as a talk on Turkish Dramas with its ever increasing popularity. Following that we go to the legendary Regent Street Cinema for a talk on Netflix, At the Flicks or Netflix and 9 worthy Turkish Films. The series of films start and end with the blockbusters Çiçero and Turkish Ice Cream respectively and includes recent festival entrees and winners: Yellow Heat, Yozgat Blues, Brothers, Halef, The Pigeon, Murtaza and Sideway. London Turkish Film Week then continues with the free film screening of Smell of Money at EBRD. The last day ends at Kings College London with a screening of various short films.

London Turkish Film Week’s last event pays tribute to the late Ömer Lütfi Akad with a screening and talk of Law of the Border, the film that marked a turning point in Turkish Film. The talk features a discussion with Istanbul Şehir University Professor Nezih Erdoğan and King’s College lecturer Dr Iain Robert Smith and moderated by broadcaster Phillip Bergson.

Turkish Short Films

For the penultimate event of London Turkish Film Week, we have a selection of Turkish Short Films.


Frequency / Frekans by Ahmet Serdar Karaca
Emre is an arrogant, cheesy radio boy. In his programs, he speaks about issues like morality, love and friendship. One day, someone connects to his radio program by telephone. He says he took his sister hostage and if cut off the broadcast, he will never see his sister again. He orders Emre to find an amount of money from his friends within an hour, in live broadcast. Emre speaks about friendship too much; and because of that, the blackmailer is intent on showing Emre’s distorted friendships in the live broadcasts.

Ahmet Serdar Karaca was born in Denizli, 1991. He graduated from Samsun Social Sciences High School in 2010 and entered Istanbul Sehir University Cinema and Television department as a full scholarship. He made acting in various theatre plays and short films. He directed also cinematography in many short films. "Frequency" is his first short.

The Stranger / Yabancı by Üsame Sekizkardeş
Ibrahim (12) is introverted but very curious about nature. He walks in the gardens and woodlands and asks his father what he has just discovered. Mustafa (40) is a factory worker, a father who loves and watches his family. Mustafa enjoys responding to what Ibrahim asked him. One day, Ibrahim finds an object unknown to anyone. Mustafa, who does not know what it is, tries to slur over Ibrahim first. But the idea of the mother, asking the new teacher to the town, makes Mustafa nervous. Mustafa starts to be hostile to the teacher who is said to be "new to the town". Mustafa is even more annoyed with every view of the new teacher who has forgotten his hat in the town coffee house. Mustafa's relations with Ibrahim and his mother, which have been stretched from day to day, will gradually deteriorate. Ibrahim, however, decides to preserve the peacefulness of his family by finding out what the object is.

Üsame Sekizkardeş was born in Istanbul in 1994. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Istanbul. In 2012, he started his university education at Istanbul Sehir University Cinema and Television department. In May 2017 he graduated from Istanbul Sehir University. He is also interested in advertising, documentary journalism and photography. He worked as a director, cameraman and editing director in various fiction and documentary short film projects within and outside of university education. "The Stranger" is the director's first fiction short movie.

Taha Reis by Abdullah Enes Ünal
In The Black Sea where the fishing season is very challenging, 19 years old Taha makes his living from the sea. He has always faced these difficulties since his childhood. Following the steps of his father, Taha met with the sea when he was 13 years old and continued his journey even after his father retired. His passion towards to the sea and fishing made him experienced enough to become a captain and buy his own fishing vessel. A young man at the age of Taha was accepted as Captain by his elders in the harbour and they wanted to sail with him. With the pressure from his family, Taha has barely finished his high school education and he has no intention to continue his studies in the future. Which removes the only obstacle on his way between the sea and him. Taha continues to his journey with full of courage and passion, he prepares his vessel and equipments carefully to overcome any difficulty which he might face during the fishing season.

Abdullah Enes Ünal was born in Istanbul, January 1995. In 2012, he has graduated from Kagithane Anatolian İmam Hatip High School and started to his graduate studies in İstanbul Şehir University, Cinema and Television department. In 2018, he has finished his graduate study and currently continues his intern on video editing.

Snow Flakes / Kar Taneleri by Elif Nur Kayalar
Kar Taneleri (Snow Flakes) is a documentary about people with albinism living in Turkey. For albino people, albinism is a determinant for their lives rather than a genetic condition. Their social relations, personal affairs, and education lives are affected by albinism. This documentary contains interviews with albino people and their parents from different parts of Turkey. Being the parent of a child with albinism is differs from being a spouse of an albino person. While they mention their unique experiences, the role of the state and the position of Albinism Association, Turkey comes into prominence.

Elif Kayalar was born in Ankara in 1994. She spent her childhood in Ankara. In 2012, having graduated from high school, she began studying cinema and television at Istanbul Sehir University. She started a double major in the department of sociology. She took part in different student films. In 2017, she completed her first documentary Kar Taneleriwhich she directed and produced. The film has achieved notable successes throughout the festivals. Kayalar is currently working for a digital media agency. She continues her independent film projects.

A Spirit’s Flight/Can Kuşu by Abdullah Şahin
Zeliha and Cevat are an old couple in an Anatolian village. They are always arguing each other. Zeliha cannot drink tap water. She only can drink a specific kind of water which his husband carry from a natural water spring outside of the village every day. One night due to Cevat forgot to bring the water, they start to argue. Cevat gives her promise to bring the water in the morning. But at night the wife dies. After his wife death, Cevat struggles to live and suffers from insomnia. He will not be able to sleep unless he sees his wife for the last time.

Abdullah Şahin was born in Istanbul in 1987 and graduated from Istanbul Şehir University’s Cinema and Television department. He is doing his master degree in the same field.

Waiting For The Rain / Yağmuru Beklerken by Burhan Hatinoğlu and Selma Şirin
The story of a father and his son

Burhan Hatinoglu was born in 1993 in Istanbul. He is a senior student at Istanbul Sehir University in the Faculty of Communication Cinema and Television Department. Now he is running his own short film projects.

Selma Şirin was born in İzmir, 1991. She graduated from Istanbul Sehir University at Communication Faculty Cinema and Television Department in 2017. Now, she is working at a private organization company and welfare association. On the other hand, she is running her own short film and documentary projects

12 Hours /12 Saat by Ercan Selim Öngöz
An old man who lives alone knew that the clock ticked faster for him with every passing second. He finished his final preparations for which he cared so deeply. He was finally ready. He stood still for a moment. The reason for his tears was not because his time came to an end. You will see for yourself "what it means to meet your death before you die.

Ercan Selim Öngöz finished Trabzon Technical High School and graduated as an IT teacher from Gazi University Faculty of Industrial Arts Education in 1999. The same year he was appointed to Giresun Technical and Industrial Vocational High School. He currently teaches in the same school, teaching Information Technology.
