Distance is sometimes a visible line, sometimes merely an absence that is felt. It is not a measurement between two points but a perception shaped by perspective. Seeking of the Distance is a journey
where boundaries blur, and the distant and the near merge into one. Sometimes, distance is not an expanding void but an invisible thread connecting two points.
Can distance be measured solely by physical space? Or does our perspective and the way we experience it redefine distance itself?
Seeking of the Distance is a film that follows these questions.
Stretching from the depths of the sea to the highest layers of the sky, this visual structure removes distance from being merely a spatial separation and explores it as a matter of perception. The
repeated dives of a mussel harvester and the ascent of an airplane into the sky become reflections of the same motion at opposite extremes. While the film preserves the contrast between these two
images, it also questions whether this contrast is merely an illusion.
For me, this film is not just about understanding distances but about feeling them. Perhaps distance exists most in the way we choose to see it.
