Synopsis
“Outskirts of Ilgar” follows the traces of the forgotten cultural memory of the
Alevi community in Ardahan Damal region. The traditional poems, lullabies,
laments and narrations heard from 60-65 year old Damal women, who are the last
generation who still verbally transmit the culture, are the last timbres. Due to
the modifications of the relationship between nature and man, the essence that
result in the following poetry has disappeared- “I farmed, sawed, made rest/ Not
even satisfied the cruel fate. The Turcoman women, who put into words what they
live but not what they hear, are silent now. Their nightingale-like voices
stopped, their telling-lips are sealed. The documentary is a journey into the
minds of the Damal women who are resisting against time.
