Okan BaşaraOkan Başara was born in 1972 in Tokat, Erbaa. He received his bachelor’s degree from Hacettepe University Department of History. He has been making documentaries on history for the last 25 years. Starting in 2007 he made the documentary series, “Keşke Olmasaydı” (Wish didn’t happen), broadcasted on TV24, about incidents in near history in Turkey, as well as autobiographies. Some of the autobiographic documentaries that he made are Ahmet Kaya, Uğur Mumcu, Yılmaz Güney, Turgut Özal, Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu, and Deniz Gezmiş. In addition, his works have become widely known by the documentaries that he made on significant events in the contemporary Turkish history, which includes the Coup d’Etat of September12th, the Crisis of February 21st, Diyarbakır Penitentiary, the Sivas Massacre, the Earthquake of August 17th, the Maraş Massacre, Srebrenitsa, Nurhak, the Economic Decisions of January 24th, and February 28th. Between 2013-2015 he made for TRT the documentaries, “Yedi Veli Yeti Fetih Belgeseli”, “Sıfır Noktası” (a documentary on September 11th), and Sümerbank. He also made the autobiographies of Tuncel Kurtiz, Adile Naşit and Savaş Ay into documentaries. He received Documentary of the Year Award in 2007 and 2009 by the Radio Television Journalists’ Association; Best Documentary Awards in 2008 by “Büyük Anadolu Birliği”, by the European Journalists’ Association, and by Çağdaş Gazeteciler Derneği (Contemporary Journalists’ Association).Yönetmenliğini Yaptığı Belgesel Filmler
