Neither Sakýp (Ertan Saban), nor Selim (Serkan Keskin) knew they had a brother
until their father,
Suat is on his deathbed. To finally reconcile the family, Suat sends Sakýp from
their home in Macedonia, to
the urban wilds of Istanbul, so that he may bring his long--lost son home
before his passing. Thus begins an
entertaining road story wherein we witness two newly--found brothers from
vastly different cultural
backgrounds on their rambunctious journey from cosmopolitan Turkey to the rural
Balkans.

The Fish in Me tells a tale of liberation about Barris, a man in his thirties,
trained as a marine biologist, who was born with a defect in his left hand that
resembles a fish fin. In his life, he feels utterly stuck, both mentally and
physically; an oppressive feeling akin to that of a deep sea fish living in an
aquarium. Through science, especially the theory of evolution, Barris tries to
find meaning in his physical and psychological problems. He runs experiments in
his aquarium shop in Istanbul’s old town, looking for evidence to support this
theories. The limited life that he built for himself comes to an end with a
hypnotherapy session, after which he sails to the Aegean Sea, looking for people
like him.

Le Poisson en moi raconte l’histoire de Barris, un homme d’une trentaine
d’années, travaillant
comme biologiste marin et né avec une déformation à la main gauche qui lui donne
l’apparence d’une nageoire. Toute sa vie, il s’est toujours senti coincé, aussi
bien physiquement que psychologiquement et associe ce sentiment d’oppression à
ce que pourrait ressentir un poisson enfermé dans un aquarium. A travers la
science et en particulier la théorie de l’évolution, Barris essaye de trouver un
sens à son problème.
Il procède à des expériences pour soutenir ses théories dans sa petite boutique
d’aquarium située dans la vieille ville d’Istanbul. Mais la vie bien rangée
qu’il s’est construit arrive à sa fin lors d’une séance d’hypnothérapie qui le
conduira à la mer Aegan afin de rechercher des personnes présentant la même
particularité.

play in society. He takes his daughter to the gynaecologist regularly to assure
himself that she’s a virgin and
therefore marriageable. But conservatism doesn’t preclude hypocrisy: Ali has
secrets of his own. Mahir and
Duru drift apart just before Ali can learn about their relationship. But Duru is
a spirited young woman with
a mind of her own... “The search of one’s own nature in the secret areas one
creates, the journeys to the
profundity of one’s soul, the shame, the desire to hide, acquired in society
through experienced behaviour
patterns - and in this context they don’t judge but reflect social reflexes.”

quelque temps une
relation amoureuse avec l'amie de sa fille, Duru. Ali, le père de Duru, est un
homme traditionnel, aux valeurs

pour s'assurer qu'elle soit
toujours vierge et donc, bonne à marier. Devant cette situation et sans doute
par crainte qu'Ali n'apprenne
leur relation, Mahir et Duru cessent de se voir. «SECRET tente de percevoir le
concept de la moralité qui
prend ses racines dans l'espace familial et se transmet à la société à travers
nos comportements. Et dans ce
contexte, il est inutile de juger, mais plutôt de montrer le miroir des réflexes

Istanbul is in the grip of political violence. Hamza, a high--ranking police
officer offers Kadir a
conditional release from prison. To be released he has to accept to work in the
new intelligence unit of
garbage collectors. Kadir accepts, and starts collecting trash from the shanty
towns, checking to see whether
it contains material related to bomb--making. Kadir finds his younger brother
Ahmet in one of those
neighborhoods. Ahmet works at the municipality as part of a team responsible for
destroying stray dogs.
Ahmet’s unwillingness to bond with Kadir as brothers, in spite of Kadir’s
insistence, leads Kadir to plot
conspiracy theories to explain Ahmet’s distance.

de haut rang
accorde à Kadir sa liberté conditionnelle sous réserve qu’il accepte de
travailler dans la nouvelle unité des
éboueurs de la ville. Kadir accepte et commence à ramasser les ordures dans les
bidonvilles alentours tout
en vérifiant s’ils contiennent du matériel servant à la fabrication de bombes
artisanales. Il y découvre son
jeune frère Ahmet qui travaille en tant qu’employé de la municipalité à la
capture des chiens errants.
Malgré l’insistance de Kadir, la réticence d’Ahmet à agir avec lui comme son
frère commence à lui
faire imaginer des théories du complot auxquelles il serait lié.

Sarmaþýk aims to sail to her loading port in Egypt to carry goods to Angola.
When the ship arrives in
Egypt, it becomes clear that the ship owner has not paid the port fee and that
the ship has been foreclosed.
Port authority officials pull the ship to the anchorage zone. A team of 6 people
will need to stay on board in
case the ship has to be moved while there: a machinist, an officer, two sailors,
a cook, and a master sailor. As
their passports are seized, the crew starts to wait on Egyptian shores for an
indefinite period of time. Small
conflicts grow into big fights as the food and beverage supplies run out and the
ship turns into a battlefield
where men hunt men.

transporter des biens.
Aussi, quand il revient en Egypte, il devient clair que le propriétaire du
navire ne s’est pas acquitté des frais
d’amarrage et qu’il est forcé de garder son bateau à quai. Les autorités
maritimes gardent le Sarmasik en
zone d’ancrage et obligent six membres de l’équipage à demeurer à bord. Le
machiniste, un officier, deux
marins, le cuisiner et le maître d’équipage se font ainsi confisquer leurs
passeports tandis qu’ils attendent
indéfiniment sur les côtes égyptiennes. Alors que l’eau et la nourriture
commencent à manquer, les petits
conflits dégénèrent et le navire se transforme en champ de bataille entre les
hommes.

Idil Biret was five--years--old when she played piano to the Turkish President
Ismet Inönü. Two
years later, the Congress passed “Idil’s Law” which allowed her to study in
Paris. Away from her friends, in
an alien city, she was now working under strict supervision. Her path crossed
with legendary pianists of the
time, such as Arthur Rubinstein who later recalled, “The first time I heard her
play it brought tears to my
eyes”. And yet, Idil dreamed of running away from everything, becoming free
again. Today, as we listen to
her atonal improvisations, Idil Biret's unique energy still retains its mystery.

Inönü. Deux ans plus tard,
le Congrès vota la « Loi Idil », lui permettant ainsi d’aller étudier à Paris.
Loin de ses proches et arrivée dans
une ville totalement étrangère, elle travaillait désormais sous stricte
surveillance. Son chemin la fit croiser
les pianistes légendaires de l’époque, dont Arthur Rubinstein, qui se souvient

quitter ce carcan, de s’enfuir pour

This short documentary brings together folklore dances performed for centuries
in Anatolian lands,
having long become traditional, and modern moves of breakdance, still on the
rise throughout the world.
Anadolu Break is about the throwing in of the Brazilian Neguin, one of the most
talented break dancers of
the World, from Red Bull BC One All Stars and the American Roxrite with Amigo
(Kadir Memiþ), the founder
of the prestigious break dance team Flying Steps, (who performed the
choreography of the opera adaptation
of the film called Duvara Karþý (Head--On, 2003) by Fatih Akýn).

It is 1981. Turkey is at the dawn of one of its most atrocious coup d’etats and
its hardest winter. In
Kars, a remote city located on Turkey’s Eastern border and the site of dynamic
trade, ethnicities and even
empires, the people’s need for coal is as acute as their need for freedom. That
winter, coal’s value equals
almost the same as diamonds. In the shadow of this period of tension, there
exists the story of three young
friends, Serhat, Gürbüz and Ýbo, who spend most of their time collecting coal
for warmth, as well as a sense
of adventure. Soon, the boys arrive at an understanding of life's
responsibilities and are hastily introduced
into the world of grownups.

Ten years after being kicked out of her parents’ home, Nur hurries back to her
father’s world when
she receives news that her mother is ailing. She wants to see and reconcile with
her mother before it is too
late. While the universal theme of mother--daughter relationships lies at the
centre of THE VISITOR, this is
underpinned by an allusive subtext of incest, one of most common but least
addressed social problems in
Turkey. The individual stories of the family members combine with a sense of
hope fuelled by tragedy to
paint a portrait of the socially disconnected.

Turkey, 1961 / a teacher named Mahir is sent from the west to a village in the
far east, that doesn't even have a school. Despite this setback, Mahir resolves
to encourage the local young girls to strive for their education. Then along
comes Aziz, a 34 year--old, unmarried illiterate and disabled man whom Mahir
together they build a school. Neither the disability nor poverty, nor the
different languages or other cultures are a problem. But then the snow falls and
