Melbourne şehir merkezinde bulunan ACMI’de düzenlenecek Türk Film Festivali 19

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Kültür Bakanlığı Sinema Daire Başkanlığı ve Antalya Kültür
ve Sanat Vakfı’nın (AKSAV) girişimleri ile Melbourne şehir merkezinde bulunan
ACMI’de (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) düzenlenecek Türk Film
Festivali 19 Nisan Pazar günü düzenlenecek olan gala ile başlıyor.
Melbourne Türk Festivali Organizatörü Nalan Cebeci’den edinilen bilgiye göre
Kültür Bakanlığı Sinema Daire Başkanlığı Telif Hakları Müdür Yardımcısı Hüseyin
Ülger, AKSAV Yönetim Kurulu üyesi Erol İşbilir ve AKSAV Görevlisi Yüksel Doğan
festivalde katılmak üzere Avustralya’ya geliyor.
Festivalin açılış gününde yönetmen Özcan Alper’in ilk uzun metrajlı filmi olan
‘Sonbahar’ İngilizce altyazılı olarak gösterilecek. Melbourne şehir merkezinde
bulunan ACMI’de 19-24 Nisan tarihleri arasında toplam 5 gün sürecek olan
festivalde Türk yapımı 8 film gösterime girecek. Festivalin organizatörlerinden
olan ve aynı zamanda AKSAV (Antalya Kültür ve Sanat Vakfı) Avustralya
Danışmanlığı görevini sürdüren Nalan Cebeci, Avustralya’da yaşayan Türk
toplumunun festivale katılması yönünde çağrıda bulundu. Cebeci ayrıca
Melbourne’de düzenlenecek olan Türk Film Festivalinin önümüzdeki senelerde
başkent Canberra’da da düzenlenmesi yönünde davet aldıklarını söyledi.
Turkish film festival in Melbourne
The Australian city of Melbourne will host the Turkish Film Festival from April
19 and 24. The festival will be organized by the Turkish Culture Ministry’s
Cinema Department and the Antalya Foundation for Culture and Arts, or AKSAV, at
the Australian Center for the Moving Image, or ACMI.
Eight films will be screened during the festival. Among these films are
classical Turkish movies "Susuz Yaz" (Dry Summer), "Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım" (The
Girl With Red Scarf), and the new ones "Pandora’nın Kutusu" (Pandora’s Box),
"Süt" (Milk), "Sonbahar" (Autumn) and "Dilber’in Sekiz Günü" (Dilber’s Eight
Days) and "Isssız Adam" (The Isolated Man). Also, "Üç Maymun" (Three Monkeys) by
Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who was awarded as best director at the Asia Pacific Film
Awards, which has been organized in Queensland for three years.
"The aim of the festival is to draw Australians to ACMI and introduce Turkish
films to them," said Nalan Cebeci, AKSAV consultant in Australia. "We need to
fill the movie theaters."
She said she invited some award-winning Turkish artists and directors to the
festival. "They are closely interested in the issue but some of them will not be
able to come because they are filming a TV series," Cebeci said.
She said the date of the festival was very important to Turks and Australians. "The
festival date coincides with April 23, the Turkish National Sovereignty and
Children’s Day. The other day is April 25, one day before the Anzac ceremonies
will start."
Enterprises sponsoring the closing ceremonies of the festival include the
Australian-Turkish Business Council and the Australian Commonwealth Bank. Work
continues for opening day, too.
The Australian Turkish Film Festival will be organized for the first time in 16
years and a project called "Filming in Turkey" will be promoted during the
festival.

Turkish films in Melbourne
Work has begun on a Turkish Film Festival to be held in Melbourne, Australia.
The festival will be hosted by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, or
ACMI, located at Federation Square in Melbourne’s city center.
The Australian advisor of the Antalya Foundation for Culture and Arts, or AKSAV,
Nalan Cebeci, is collaborating with the cinema department of the Turkish
Ministry of Culture to put the festival together. Cebeci, who has been living in
Australia for about four years and who worked as a festival director on the
Golden Orange Film Festival, held in the Mediterranean city of Antalya, said it
is hoped the Turkish film festival would be held sometime between the Berlin and
Cannes film festivals.
The festival will screen 10 films, including three internationally award-winning
films, three films that broke box office records in Turkey and four classical
films. Three successful directors and three artists of Turkish cinema will be
invited to the festival. "Our goal is not only to screen award-winning films but
also to show successful productions," said Cebeci.
The Turkish films will be screened with English subtitles to Australian
audiences. The 1964 production, "Susuz Yaz" (Dry Summer), one of the best known
Turkish films and director Atıf Yılmaz’s film, "Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım" (Girl
With Red Scarf), starring Türkan Şoray and Kadir İnanır, are among the films to
be screened at the festival.
Cebeci said she had spoke with officials at ACMI, expected to host the festival
and they were positive about the idea. "If we become successful here, we can
organize a Turkish Film Festival in Sydney in the future," she said, adding the
last Turkish film festival in Australia was 15 years ago.
