Paul Negoescu
Born in 1984 in Bucharest. He studied film directing at the UNATC national film
school. He directed several short films that were awarded and selected in many
international film festivals, including Cannes (Semaine de la Critique - 2012),
Berlinale (2008, 2009 and 2010), Karlovy Vary or Rotterdam. Two of his short
films (Renovation and Derby) were nominated at the European Film Academy Awards
in 2009 and 2011. His first feature film, “A month in Thailand” premiered at the
Venice Film Festival (International Critics’ Week) in 2012 and was awarded with
the FIPRESCI prize in the Sofia International Film Festival and Best Debut in
Transilvania International Film Festival. His second feature film, “Two Lottery
Tickets”, a micro-budget independent film, became one of the most successful
romanian film at the box-office and was also very well received by festivals and
critics and it was distributed in many countries. His third feature, “The Story
of a Summer Lover”, was distributed by Netflix in over 30 territories, while his
fourth feature film, “Men of Deeds” won most important awards at the Romanian
Industry Awards, including Best Film, Best Directing, Best Script, Best Male
Actor, Best Supporting Role, Best Editing. He is a lecturer at the national film
school UNATC since 2008.
Jeffrey Hibbert
Oğr. Uye. Dr. Jeffrey Hibbert has taught in the department of English Language
and Literature at Yaşar University since 2009. Originally from Connecticut, he
earned his PhD in English Literature at Temple University in Philadelphia. In
the English Department, he teaches early modern English literature, Romantic era
poetry, Modern Drama, and electives courses in film studies and literature. He
has taught courses on literature and Film Noir, 21st century horror film, and
New Hollywood. He is currently researching the evolution of possession in 20th
and 21st century American horror films.
Güven Zararsız
Güven Zararsız studied cinema and television at Anadolu University. He worked as
a producer at a production company in Budapest, Hungary, where he had previously
interned. After two years, he became a full partner at Speak Easy Project, a
company he had worked with, and relocated it to Izmir, Turkey, in 2015. He
directs and produces documentaries and commercial films for major television
channels and brands in both Turkey and Europe.
Andaç Karabeyoğlu
Andaç was born and raised in Ankara in 1986. In addition to studying modern
dance and ballet, she completed her master’s degree at Bilkent University,
Department of Communication and Design and studied cinematography at the Polish
Film School in Lodz in order to direct her career. Her films have been screened
at major festivals such as Istanbul Film Festival, Adana Golden Boll Film
Festival, Camerimage, Achtung Berlin and Max-Ophüls-Preis. Her first feature
film with director Aslı Özarslan was selected for the Berlinale 2024 Generation
section and won the best first film award at the International Frauen Filmfest
Dortmund-Köln (2024) and the best regional film award at the Lichter Filmfest
(2024). Andaç, who currently lives in Berlin, is preparing to meet the audience
with new projects.
Ana Agopian
Ana Agopian is Associate Professor and Head of the Scriptwriting and Film
Studies Department at The National University of Film and Theater “I.L.Caragiale”.
She has a PHD in literature (University of Bucharest). She worked as a
scriptwriter, together with Oana Răsuceanu and Iulia Rugină, for several short
and medium length films and three feature films (Love Building, Another Love
Building and Breaking News) which were shown at numerous national and
international film festivals. Breaking News (2017) premiered at Karlovy Vary
International Film Festival (Official Competition, Special Jury Mention for the
actress Voica Oltean). She also directed two whort films: E.T. was here and
White 2040. As a scriptwriter she also collaborated with Media Pro Pictures (for
four TV series and two TV movies) and HBO Romania (for one TV series). Ana has
an important experience in cultural management. In 2009, together with Oana
Răsuceanu and Iulia Rugină, Ana founded Control N Cultural Association and she
was involved in all the projects developed by the association since then. Ana
also works as a trainer for national and international scriptwriting workshops.
She recently collaborated with New Draft, LIM | Less is More - Creative Pre-Writing
Workshop, The Script Contest, Pustnik Screenwriters Residency and Litfilm.
