STFF Shorts 2021 Programı bu yılın gösterim sıralamasını gururla duyuruyor! Bu
yılki STFF festivalinde gösterim için yaklaşık 200 gönderimden 10 kısa film
seçildi! Tarihleri 3-12 Aralık 2021 için saklayın! Yönetmenleri, oyuncuları ve
mürettebat üyelerini ve bunun gerçekleşmesi için canla başla çalışan ön jüri
üyelerimizi tebrik ederiz!
STFF Shorts 2021 Program proudly announces this year's screening program! Out of
nearly 200 submissions, 10 short films were selected for screening during the
STFF festival (December 3-12, 2021) this year. Congratulations to the directors,
cast and crew members, and our pre-jury members who worked hard to make this
happen!
STFF SHORTS 2021 PROGRAM
EVERYTHING AS IT SHOULD BE
The life of Saffet (40) who belongs to upper middle class, hasn’t change in the
apartment corridor when he sees underage, beautiful and marginal Rüya who is the
daughter of his neighbor he hasn’t seen before.

BRIGITTE BARDOT
A "modern" Turkish family expects an exchange student from France who will
accompany their 10-year-old daughter for the summer. Their shy daughter will not
only practice French, but also have a friend finally. When this "expected
visitor" came, they were frustrated that the boy's name is Hafid. They don't
find him "French" enough and everything will happen in real-time with a single
14 minutes long shot!

KISMET
Gamze wants to marry his boyfriend, Emrah, but her father doesn’t consent to
their marriage because Emrah is Alawite. One night, Gamze invites Emrah to
dinner to present him to his father, Kenan, but Kenan doesn’t let him into the
house. Kenan’s manager Necati and his wife, who unexpectedly knock the door
aiming to help Gamze to persuade Kenan, encounter a different situation, which
Gamze asserting his father wants to revenge on her because she revealed his
cheat on her mother last year. But the major surprise emerges when Gamze posts
his father’s obscene video shot in his workplace toilet on Facebook. Kenan is
caught between his obstinacy and his manager who forces him to convince his
daughter to delete the post because he’s afraid that the scandal affects his
business. Between those payoffs and conflicts of self-interests, there is a
disregarded wife and a shattered family left.

SAME NIGHT DIFFERENT BLUE
In the present time, an old antiquarian owns a stamp which belongs to a letter
sent by Adolf Hitler to Turkey during the World War II. Kadir, ex-accomplice of
Yagmur who has sworn off stealing, is after the stamp that is worth millions. He
now has to persuade Yagmur to impeccably carry on with his plan. During the same
night when different stories intersect, this precious stamp will end up in the
hands of the one who treats it with the dignity it deserves.

THE CRIMINALS
The Criminals is a social realist drama combined with the elements of the
thriller film and within its heart the desire and the question of intimacy.
Nazli and Emre are a young, modern couple that love each other and seek to enjoy
themselves. Sexuality is not a taboo for them. They freely and joyfully desire
each other. Their only obstacle is others. I do believe the film has potential
to spark discussion about the historical shifts that the country is facing by
following this story of two young lovers’ exploration of their sexuality and
their willingness to freely enjoy their privacy. We intend to question what it
is like to grow up and live in today's Turkey as a young person.

In present day Queens, New York, a Turkish gravedigger is unable to face a
shattering truth, and risks losing the dearest connection left in his life. As
New York City deals with the ravishing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, YUSUF,
a 45-year-old immigrant gravedigger in Queens, struggles to make ends meet and
care for RENK, his eleven-year-old daughter. Unable to face the sudden demise of
his hospitalized, COVID-19 stricken wife, and consumed with guilt over her death,
Yusuf withholds the truth from his daughter. Several days pass and the weight of
the truth, no longer containable, forces an unavoidable reckoning between Yusuf
and Renk.

THE GREAT ISTANBUL DEPRESSION
Didem and Ayşe aren’t able to find a job even though it has been a while since
they've graduated from the university. In this time period in which these two
young women step into adulthood and need to make money now - this period of time
that is short for humanity, but lingering for them - the days are not much
different from the previous ones. On the other hand, in order to able to stay in
Istanbul, they must at least earn enough money to cover their rent, on the other
hand, what they dream of, what want to do. They cannot find a way to earn money,
nor did Didem concentrate on writing and Ayşe on drawing. On the edge of the
metropolis, they are stuck in between the skyscrapers rising among the terrace
of their home and the ruined apartment buildings.

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER
Rıfat, who has his life routine and lives with his mother, works as a lost and
found clerk and station announcer in a metro station in İstanbul. When Filiz, an
attractive woman, comes to Rıfat's room to retrieve her lost phone, she forgets
a poetry book in the room this time. After meeting Filiz, Rıfat starts to look
on the bride side of his life. While he is reading the poetry book and trying to
break the banality of his life, one day Filiz comes to the subway unhappy. To
make her happy, he reads the poem "Beautiful Weather" from the book instead of
making routine station announcements.

Christina Antonakos-Wallace
Filmmaker and Cultural Organizer
Christina is a Seattle-based filmmaker, cultural organizer, and lifelong
activist. Her films and interactive work have been exhibited in over fifteen
countries. Accolades include Best Feature Film from Seattle’s Local Sightings
Film Festival for her film FROM HERE (2020), a Euromedia Award for Culture of
Diversity (2011), a Media that Matters Change Maker Award (2012), recognition
from the German Alliance for Democracy and Tolerance (2015) and an MTV Fight for
Your Rights Scholarship. Commissions and grants include the New America
Foundation, Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, and the German Ministry for
Civic Education. She has been a Fellow at Hedgebrook (2017) and the Port
Townsend Film Festival (2015), and Humanity in Action (2006). She leads the
initiative withwingsandroots.org, where she collaborates with a network of media
makers and scholars to reimagine migration, citizenship, and belonging.
Onur Bakiner
Political Scientist
Onur Bakiner is Associate Professor of Political Science at Seattle University.
His research and teaching interests include transitional justice, human rights
and judicial politics, particularly in Latin America and the Middle East.
Sirin Aysan
Television Producer and Filmmaker
Sirin Aysan has produced acclaimed series and specials for major broadcasters
and streaming platforms. Sirin has covered stories around the globe and is the
recipient of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for her work on “Child
Brides” for PBS. The television programs she has directed have been nominated
for Emmy, Prism, and Telly awards.

Seattle Türk Film Festivali 8. Kısa Film Seçkisi Başvurulara Açıldı
Bu sene sekizincisi düzenlenecek olan Seattle Türk Film Festivali (STFF) Kısa
Film Seçkisi, 1 Mayıs 2021 tarihinden itibaren başvuruları kabul etmeye başladı.
Son başvuru tarihi ise 1 Ağustos 2021.
A.B.D.’nin Seattle kentinde her sene Seattle Türk Film Festivali (STFF)
bünyesinde gerçekleştirilen kısa film programının sekizincisi 1 Mayıs 2021
tarihinden itibaren başvurulara açıldı. Büyük Jüri Ödülü’nün 500 Amerikan
doları, Seyirci Ödülü’nün ise 300 Amerikan doları olduğu programa başvurular, 1
Ağustos 2021 tarihine kadar kabul edilecek.
2019 yılında düzenlenen programda yönetmen Tunahan Kurt’un usta oyuncu Erkan
Can’ı başrole taşıdığı “Tahtakurusu” adlı kısa filmi Büyük Jüri Ödülü’ne layık
görülmüş, geçtiğimiz sene pandemi sebebiyle ilk defa çevrimiçi olarak
gerçekleştirilen programda ise ilk sırayı Mahsun Taşkın’ın “Binbir Gece
Masalları” filmi almış, seyircilerin oylarıyla belirlenen Seyirci Ödülü’nün
sahipleri ise, “En İyi Kadın Oyuncu” filmi ile Umut Alaz Kökçü ve “Free Fun”
filmi ile Fehmi Öztürk olmuştu.
2020 yılında 300’den fazla başvurunun yapıldığı seçkiye bu sene de yoğun ilgi
bekleniyor.
Seattle sinema camiasının önde gelen isimlerinden oluşacak program jürisi,
finale kalan filmlerin arasından kazananları belirleyecek. Ön jürinin
belirlediği on finalist filmin tamamı festival kapsamında gösterilerek Seattle
seyircisiyle buluşma şansı yakalayacak.
