Şevval, yirmili yaşlarında, duygularını bastırarak büyümüş, sessiz ve kontrollü
bir genç kadındır. Çocukluğundan beri annesinin sözleriyle şekillenen bu
bastırılmışlık, onu gerçek insan ilişkilerinden uzaklaştırmış; duygusal
risklerden korunmak için yapay zeka destekli iletişime sığınmasına yol açmıştır.
Günlerini ekran ışığında, algoritmik düzen içinde geçirir. Ta ki bir gün, gitar
çalan Yusuf’un videosuna rastlayana kadar. Yusuf’un içten melodisi, Şevval'in
yıllardır bastırdığı insani duygularını ve travmalarını tetikler. Şevval
videonun altına ilk kez bir yorum yazar. Ama kendi kelimeleriyle değil, yapay
zekanın ürettikleriyle. İkili, kısa sürede mesajlaşmaya başlar. Yusuf samimi,
kırılgan ve içten bir ruha sahiptir; Şevval ise her mesajı algoritmalarla
biçimlendirilmiş bir deney gibi yönetir. Yusuf’un sıcaklığı arttıkça Şevval’in
içinde bastırdığı korkular da uyanır. Gerçek bir yüz görme isteği, onun için
“kontrolün kaybı” anlamına gelir. Şevval’in zihninde duygusal tehdit, fiziksel
tehlikeye dönüşür.
Film, dijital sessizlik içinde kapanır: Filmin sonunda cesedinin görünmesi,
“duygusal samimiyetin teknoloji tarafından öldürülmesinin” metaforudur.
“Kimlik”, duygusal samimiyetin teknoloji karşısında yok oluşunu, insanın kendi
duygularından bile kaçışının ölümcül sonucunu anlatır.
Şevval is a young woman in her twenties who grew up suppressing her emotions;
she is quiet and reserved. This repression, shaped by her mother’s words since
childhood, has distanced her from genuine human relationships and led her to
take refuge in AI-assisted communication to protect herself from emotional risks.
She spends her days in the glow of a screen, within an algorithmic framework.
That is, until one day she stumbles upon a video of Yusuf playing the guitar.
Yusuf’s heartfelt melody triggers the human emotions and traumas that Şevval has
suppressed for years. Şevval writes her first comment under the video—but not in
her own words, rather with those generated by artificial intelligence. The two
begin messaging each other shortly thereafter. Yusuf possesses a sincere,
fragile, and genuine spirit; Şevval, on the other hand, manages each message
like an experiment shaped by algorithms. As Yusuf’s warmth grows, the fears
Şevval has suppressed within herself also awaken. The desire to see a real face
signifies “a loss of control” for her. In Şevval’s mind, the emotional threat
turns into physical danger.
The film closes in digital silence: The appearance of her corpse at the end of
the film is a metaphor for “the killing of emotional intimacy by technology.”
“Identity” tells the story of the disappearance of emotional intimacy in the
face of technology and the deadly consequences of a person’s flight from their
own emotions.
