Ömer Kutay Seyrek'in yönettiği ve senaryosunu yazdığı “Laspiral”, yapay zeka teknolojilerinin sinemaya entegre edildiği özgün bir deneyim filmidir. Film, Ömer'in yapay zekayla tanışmasını ve bu süreçte yapay zekaya dair geliştirdiği düşünceleri, endişeleri ve gelecekle ilgili öngörülerini konu alıyor.

Film boyunca, Ömer'in yapay zekayla gerçekleştirdiği derinlemesine sohbetler izleyiciyle paylaşılmakta.

Directed and written by Ömer Kutay Seyrek, “Laspiral” is an original experimental film that integrates artificial intelligence technologies into cinema. The film explores Ömer’s introduction to artificial intelligence and the thoughts, concerns, and predictions he develops about AI and its implications for the future.

Throughout the film, Ömer shares in-depth conversations with artificial intelligence, engaging in dialogues that are both personal and philosophical. During these exchanges, AI-generated visuals and scenes unfold in the background—these images not only support the narrative but also take the audience on a journey through time. From the early humans’ reverence for fire to the modern era, each technological milestone is examined metaphorically. The film delves into how humanity has attributed sacredness to technology at every stage of its evolution, from fire to writing, electricity to artificial intelligence, and how these advancements have transformed lives.

“Laspiral” emphasizes that artificial intelligence is not merely a tool but a co-evolving force alongside humanity, perhaps becoming our greatest collaborator. By drawing parallels between ancient mystical symbols and today’s algorithms, the film highlights both the miraculous and potentially perilous aspects of technology. Viewers are confronted not only with Ömer’s personal journey but also with the historical transformation of humanity’s relationship with technology.

Ultimately, “Laspiral” emerges as a groundbreaking work that pushes the boundaries of artificial intelligence and reimagines the future. By holding a mirror to the role of technology in our lives, the film offers an experience that is both hopeful and thought-provoking, leaving audiences to reflect on where we stand—and where we might be headed.

Cinema has always been a journey of discovery for me. As a child, even before I fully understood what life was, the allure of scenes and stories promised a world beyond reality. I grew up in the warm streets of Mersin, diving into history books to explore the depths of the past; but my true curiosity lay in imagining what the future might hold. This curiosity first led me to theater—a raw art form that touches the naked soul of humanity and ignites light in the darkness. Then came cinema—an eternal mirror freezing life's most fragile moments forever.

But this journey was far from easy. While studying history, I examined humanity’s great wars, collapses, and rebirths. Every page, every event seemed to pose the same question - “Who are we? Where are we headed?” I had to confront these questions. Slowly, I realized that the answers weren’t hidden solely in the past—they might also reside in the future. It was at this point that I encountered the world of artificial intelligence (AI). At first, I was an outsider, even fearful—questioning whether a machine could truly understand human experience. Over time, however, I came to see AI not just as a tool, but as a partner capable of engaging in dialogue with us. Perhaps these dialogues represent a new step in humanity’s attempt to illuminate its own existential darkness.

As a director, my vision goes beyond mere entertainment—I aim to provoke thought and evoke emotion. To me, cinema screens exist not only to tell stories but also to touch the collective unconscious of society. Throughout human history, the mysticism we’ve attributed to technology—from fire to steam, electricity to AI—has offered opportunities to redefine ourselves. Yet such opportunities always come at a cost. Are we moving toward enlightenment or deeper shadows? It’s hard to say for sure. My films drift within this ambiguity—offering hope while reminding us of lurking dangers.

The project “Laspiral” became the most tangible expression of this paradox. Collaborating with AI to create this film, it is both a personal confession and a global interrogation. When I depict ancient humans worshipping fire, I’m reflecting on how we worship AI today. Has the fire of old become the algorithm of the modern world? Or have we lost control over our own creations long ago?

In every frame of this film, I wanted to capture both the glimmer of hope and the shadow of loss. Because life is like that—every dawn carries a new darkness, every night holds a new light. I hope my audience feels this duality, perhaps even seeing their own shadows and lights within themselves.

For me, directing is not just a profession—it’s a way of life. Through my films, I aspire to leave a mark—not necessarily by creating an unforgettable masterpiece, but by making people think. And maybe, through that thought, they’ll begin their own spiral-shaped journeys. For everyone has their own spiral—some climb upward, others descend into the depths. What matters isn’t where we’re going, but what we learn along the way.
