During a harsh, relentless winter night in a mountain pass, a nomadic clan
slumbers in their tents. Standing watch in the freezing dark is Tunga, a warrior
consumed by grief. The icy silence is suddenly shattered by a voice he never
expected to hear again—his deceased wife, Bala. Turning around, Tunga is stunned
to see her standing before him, flesh and blood.
As Tunga struggles to comprehend this impossible return, Bala attempts to entice
him, trying to convince him to surrender his life so they can finally reunite in
the underworld realm of Erlik Han. However, Tunga remembers his wife’s
unyielding devotion to the Sky Tengri. Knowing she would never speak of yielding
to the dark lord, suspicion hardens into certainty: this entity is not Bala.
Realizing the deception has failed, the figure sheds its illusion, revealing its
true, terrifying form—the Karakoncolos, a winter demon of ancient myth. It has
merely been playing a sadistic game before delivering the killing blow.
Infuriated by the demon’s exploitation of his grief and its mockery of the Sky
Tengri, Tunga unleashes a furious assault with his greatsword, its ancient runes
blazing with holy white light.
The clash is brutal, but the demon’s raw strength overwhelms him. With a
powerful strike, the Karakoncolos hurls Tunga's rune-lit weapon deep into the
snowdrifts and delivers a crushing blow that leaves the warrior mortally wounded,
gasping for breath on the blue ice. Clutched by agonizing pain, Tunga spots his
shimmering blade in the distance. In a desperate, final surge of life force, he
lunges for the hilt, channeling his entire existence into the weapon to unleash
a blinding blast of white energy that consumes the beast.
Exhausted, broken, and fading fast, Tunga collapses onto the crimson-stained
snow. As his vision blurs in his final moments, the figure of Bala suddenly
reappears, kneeling beside him and gazing down into his eyes. With his last
breath, Tunga whispers her name as the camera slowly pulls away into the
freezing void, leaving the audience with a haunting, ambiguous question: Has
Tunga finally crossed over to Uçmağ (Heaven) to reunite with his true love, or
did the Karakoncolos survive, trapping the warrior in an eternal, inescapable
illusion?
